What are Dimples?

Dimples kits enable you to easily capture the fingerprint impression of a loved one, newborn infant to mature adult, wherever and whenever you want to! That fingerprint, a moment in time permanently preserved in a pure silver charm, can be worn and enjoyed each day.

After I order a Dimples kit, how do I get the finished Dimples item?
A Dimples kit containing all you need to capture your loved one’s fingerprint impression will be shipped to you
Carefully read the instructions before taking the fingerprint impression. An online video is available on the How To page of our website to assist you in taking the perfect impression
Take the impression using the patented impression tray and label the tray with the engraving inscription (up to 15 characters, 12 on cufflinks)
Place the impression tray and reply card in the business reply envelope and drop it in the mail
Dimples will complete the charm, engrave it, and place it on a Sterling silver jewellery item or accessory
Dimples will ship the finished piece to its destination within 4-6 weeks of receiving the impression

How long does it take to receive the finished Dimples item from when I order the kit?
You will receive a Dimples kit in approximately one week from placing your order
If you reside in Canada or the US, you will receive the finished Dimples piece 4-6 weeks from when we receive your impressions

What is included in the purchase price?

Does the shipping fee cover all 3 shipments?
Yes, the shipping fee covers the shipping of the Dimples kit to you, the impressions back to Dimples, and the finished piece to you.

What if I need my Dimples kit or finished piece ASAP?
You can pay to have the Dimples kit shipped to you within 1-2 days by choosing the Expedited Impression Kit option.
You can pay to have the entire process expedited by choosing the Entirely Expedited option: the Dimples kit to you within 2 days, 1-2 weeks processing, and finished piece expedited to you.

Will the fingerprint lines be visible?
Infants and children under 2 years have very fine fingerprint lines and very soft skin therefore, individual fingerprint lines may not be visible. What is visible is the cute, tiny imprint of your rapidly growing child’s finger. A moment in her or his life is forever captured.

How do I take a fingerprint impression?
Taking an Infant’s Impression – Use index finger
You may want another person to assist you because babies tend to make fists whenever you touch their hands.
Hold the impression tray so it is open like a clam, with your four fingers under the bottom of the tray, holding it.
With your other hand, direct the infant’s index finger over the impression material so that her/his fingernail is at the edge of the tray.
Use the thumb of the hand holding the tray to press the infant’s finger into the impression material. At the same time, press upward with your fingers from the bottom of the tray.
Apply firm pressure for approximately 10 seconds or until you feel the material ‘give’ and see it squish out from the sides of the finger.
Lift the infant’s finger straight up and out of the material.
You should see a deep impression. The individual fingerprint lines may not be visible in an infant’s impression as they are so fine at this age.

1 to 4 years – Use index finger

5 and over – Use a 'pinky' finger
Use a ‘pinkie’ or another finger for the impression. Adults -- use pinky only.
Ensure that the finger is clean and dry. Place the tray open on a table.
Have the child or adult centre a finger over the centre of the impression material with the nail at the tray’s edge.
Assist the child in pressing a finger into the material.
Press finger firmly into the impression material for approximately 10 seconds. You should feel the material ‘give’ and see it squish out from the sides of the finger.
Use a thumb to help press the finger into the material.
Lift finger straight up and out of the material. You should see a deep impression.
Cufflinks - Can I have two different people's impressions, one on each cufflink?
Yes, you will receive two impression trays with your Dimples Cufflinks order, so you can have a different person's impression on each cufflink or the same person's on both.

Will it tarnish?
All silver oxidizes over time when exposed to the air.
As well, silver can react with people's skin ph, body oils, perfumes, creams, etc.
Your Dimples jewelry can easily be restored to its original beauty by using a polishing cloth and/or silver cleaner. Both are available for sale on our website.
NOTE: several silver cleaners on the market are too harsh to use on your Dimples charms as they may corrode the precious impression. The brand available on our website is safe for use on your Dimples charms.
I have an allergy to nickel. Can I wear Dimples jewelry?
Yes. You should have no trouble wearing the Dimples Minimalist Charm as it is made of pure silver and contains no nickel.
The best recommendation for someone with a nickel allergy is the Minimalist Charm on its own or on the Black Cord Necklace.

What if I have trouble taking the impression?
Before taking the impression, be sure to read all of the instructions in the Dimples manual and view the online video.
If you wish to redo the impression you need to do so right after you have taken the initial impression. The material dries out quickly.
To redo an impression, simply place the blue wax disk seal back on top of the impression, press it firmly down and twist it several times. This should erase the previous impression. Remove the wax disk and redo the finger impression.
Discard the blue wax disk when done.
You can order a replacement impression tray for $20 plus tax. Dimples requires that you send in your original impression tray first, so they can determine whether or not you need to take second impression. Dimples guarantees that you receive a great product. In the very rare case that you require more than one replacement tray, you will receive a third tray for the cost of shipping only.

Dimples charms are pure silver.

What is your return policy?
Dimples guarantees a great product. If you are not happy with the impression you have taken you can order a replacement impression tray for $20 plus tax. Dimples requires that you send in your original impression tray first, so they can determine whether or not you need to take second impression. In the very rare case that you require more than a second attempt, you will receive a third tray for the cost of shipping only.
If the impression that you captured isn’t as unique as the person to whom it belongs and you aren’t amazed by having captured a moment in your loved one’s life and forever preserved it in silver, then we will be happy to refund your purchase price and provide you with a free gift for having tried our Dimples product.
